General Education Course Requirements
(To include GE courses that are required B.S.E. Common Prerequisites)
NWFSC General Education Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of general education coursework, the student will:
• Successfully apply critical thinking skills to a topic or problem.
• Create an effective response using communication skills that are appropriate for the situation.
• Critically assess credible and relevant information sources.
• Responsibly use information.
• Discuss various events, theories, and/or viewpoints.
• Interpret data using quantitative analysis, logical reasoning, and/or theoretical reasoning.
One of the following Social Sciences courses is required to meet the Civic Literacy Competency requirement:
Per Florida Statutes § 1007.25 (2021) and Rule 6A-10.02413 F.A.C., all students initially entering the B.S. program in Fall 2021 or later must complete both: > 1. A state-approved civic literacy course (e.g., AMH2010, AMH2020, POS2041, AMS2010) with a minimum grade of “C”. > 2. A passing score on an approved civic literacy assessment (e.g., Florida Civic Literacy Exam, CLEP American Government, AP U.S. Government, AP U.S. History).
It is recommended that at least one physical or biological science include a lab.
