This program is a Selective Admission program subject to additional program policies. Policies are strictly enforced and students should work with a Student Success Navigator rather than self-advise. The admission criteria and process are subject to change; students should refer to the Selective Program Admissions/Nursing (A.S.) webpage for the most current information. All courses in the A.S. Nursing program, including general education and core courses, must be completed with a minimum grade of “C” to graduate with the A.S. Degree in Nursing.
The Associate in Science in Nursing admits student three times a year (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters) to begin nursing coursework. To be considered for selection into the program, applicants must:
- Complete a program application in addition to the College application (select “Associate in Science” as the Program Type and “Nursing ASN, Associate in Science” for the Program of Study).
- Meet or exceed the minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 2.50 on all college-level courses.
- Pass the Nursing Admission Examination
Students selected for this program must meet the following matriculation criteria before progressing into nursing coursework.
- Clinical facility requirements including fingerprinting, a criminal background check, drug screen, proof of immunization, and CPR Certification.
- Pass the three prerequisite courses (“Prerequisite semester” listed below in the Suggested Two Year Academic Plan) with a grade of “C” or higher.
If any of these matriculation criteria are not met before “Semester 1 in Nursing Program” classes begin, students will not be able to proceed and will have to reapply to the program for a later semester.
Interested students should review all application materials and selection criteria on the Nursing website. Contact the Nursing Department at (850) 729-6400 or asnursing@nwfsc.edu for additional information.
